Please note the minimum requirements:

Engineering disciplines, candidate must obtain a minimum rating of 6 (70%-79%) in mathematics and science, 5 (60%-69) English and as per requirement of institutions.

The candidate must obtain a minimum rating 5 (60%-69%) in Mathematics, Accounting and English to be considered in Finance.

Successful candidates will be required to sign a service obligation with Xstrata Coal SA

The successful candidate must be in possession of a valid certificate of fitness or be fit enough to obtain one prior to the commencement of Bursary Award, as this is a requirement of the Mine’s Health and safety Act.
The Bursary include:

Payment of any compulsory excursions or seminar which may be required

The service obligation is on a year-for-a-year basis and employment after completion of studies is at the sole discretion of the company. Vacation work during duration of the bursary is compulsory. Harmony Bursaries 2014

We acknowledge that our employees, present and potential, have aspirations but perhaps not the means to be formerly educated in their fields of interest. To this end, we have created the Harmony Bursary Scheme which awards successful applicants bursaries for full-time study at accredited tertiary institutions. The scheme covers tuition and residence fees, the cost of prescribed text books, and also provides a personal allowance.


The scheme is designed to contribute to the development of historically disadvantaged South Africans.

Implats Bursaries 2013

Implats bursaries are open to all candidates meeting the minimum criteria of a university exemption pass and a minimum C symbol in mathematics and science. Our bursaries cover:

Registration and tuition fees for the duration of the course

Residence fees

Cash allowance

Personal computer allowance from second year of study

Should you be awarded an Implats bursary, you will be required to work for the company for the full period of the bursary and to undertake vacation work at the company at the end of each year.

Thuthuka Bursary Fund 2014

Requirements for application of the Thuthuka bursary

The learner must be African or Coloured

The learner must be a South African Citizen

The learner must obtain at least 60% on Mathematics (5 or above on the NSC Scale of Achievement) NOT MATHS LITERACY

The learner must be in Grade 12 intending on studying B Comm. Accounting

The learner must be financially needy and will be assessed using the NSFAS MEANS TEST to confirm financial need

 

The Process of Awarding a Bursary

The application must have met the above criteria

The learner must have applied or be in the process of applying to one of the following tertiary institutions:

    University of Johannesburg

    University of Cape Town (Bachelor of Commerce code CB011)

    Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University

    Stellenbosch University

    University of Pretoria

    University of Orange Free State

    University of Witwatersrand (WITS)

Once the learner has met the above criteria they will be called in for testing

Depending on the test results then the learner may be called in for an interview.

Once the learner has met all the above requirements and gone through the relevant test and interview only then will the bursary be provisionally awarded to the learner pending the final Grade 12 results.

  • If you are in matric: You have a grade 12 certificate with university exemption and an aggregate of 65% or higher

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The department offers bursaries with a work-back contract obligation. You will be obliged to work for the length of time that the bursary was allocated to you.
  • In terms of the contract that bursars sign, the department may withdraw further payments of the bursary should the bursar fail subjects and not be allowed to proceed to the following year of study
  • If you change your courses without prior discussion with the department, and study something outside the list in Q2 above, you will be required to repay in full all funds paid by the department and your contract may be terminated.

Eurecon Bursaries

 

Aurecon is a learning organisation and offers financial support to top academic performers via its four year undergraduate bursary scheme. Approved universities which offer programmes that lead to professional careers in engineering are considered.

 

Financial support may also be available to Aurecon employees for postgraduate degrees at honours, masters and doctoral level.

 

The Aurecon Learnership Programme caters for students taking the National Diploma and Baccalareus Technologiae at selected tertiary institutions.  This programme includes both academic and experiential training and it is registered with the Construction Education and Training Authority.
